Event description

Join us from October 10-12 at  คิดสร้างสรรค์ไม่มีวันหมด ARARTE NIST: Lifelong Creativity!

The annual Asia Region Art Educators Workshop (ARARTE) is a 2 1/2 day workshop for visual arts educators in Asia to directly engage with colleagues and learn arts techniques applicable to classroom practice. Registration deadlines are Sep. 15 for participants and Sep. 1 for presenters. The ARARTE Weekend Workshop makes possible powerful interactions, energizing educators to inspire 21st-century student artists around the world.

The workshop is built around three integral components:

Practical Inquiry: Participants share resources, lessons, activities, and samples used in their teaching practice to be shared with other participants
Studio Sessions: Hands-on art making workshops led by teachers for teachers to apply directly to the classroom studio
An Exploration of Place: Interaction with the host location allows participants to explore unique local destinations.
The professional exchange results in enthusiasm and innovation for the visual arts classroom, invigorating teaching performance across the region.

Originating in Beijing in 2008, the Asia Region Art Educators Workshop was designed and developed by Joan Lueth. The workshop was hosted in New Delhi in 2009, Singapore in 2010, Shanghai in 2011, Taipei in 2012 and Hong Kong in 2013. Participants are encouraged to continue their involvement through the ARARTE Ning site, www.ararte.ning.com, created and managed by Kendra Farrell. The site is ‘a creative community of art educators living, working, or interested in Asia to respond, collaborate and share’. It is host to numerous features, including specific forums, video dialogue and a gallery of images, all strengthening student and educator connections beyond classroom studios.

ARARTE is a weekend of imaginative ideas and inspiring imagery. It is a personal learning network focused on the present, with an eye toward the future. For more information, contact Joan Lueth at [email protected]
