Title: Developing skills in textual analysis!
Date of workshop: 27th November 2015 (one day event)
In this day of information and technology, young individuals need to be more and more analytical and critical of the texts that they read. As teachers of language and literature, we bear a certain responsibility to help students develop skills in textual analysis. This one-day course offers a range of teaching strategies that can be taken straight into the classroom. Participants will engage with literary and non-literary texts, and there will be ample opportunity to interact meaningfully with each other. The workshop will incorporate many ‘visible thinking routines’ and other pedagogical tools that stimulate learning and thinking. Furthermore, participants will explore ways in which such skills in textual analysis are commonly measured and assessed.
